Coyotes to Hold Armed Forces Night

Xbox, and Playstation games that will then be sent to the Troops overseas. Fans that donate 2 items will receive $3 off each ticket they purchase, if they donate 5 items they will receive a free ticket to that night's game.

Giving back to the community has been a theme for the Coyotes this season, wishing to support the community that has supported them for 5 years. This night is just an extension of the other things that they have done this season. Collecting and sending items to the troops overseas is a way for us to show our admiration and appreciation to those they give us the freedom that we have.

A special camouflage jersey will be worn by the Coyotes on this night that will then be auctioned off after that game. Portions of the proceeds of the auction will go to charity.

SoulCalibur IV

Soul Calibur 2 saw the addition of Nintendo's Link, Image Comics' Spawn and Tekken's Heihachi Mishima across the GameCube, Xbox and PS2 versions respectively. It felt slightly odd then. It feels doubly odd now. Perhaps we just need a bit of time to wrap our heads around the fact that you'll be able to play as Hilde, a German female knight in shining armour who uses a flag pole and a short sword for weapons, against a tiny green gremlin-like Jedi knight who uses a lightsaber in the hanger bay of a Star Destroyer (the game's new Star Wars themed level, complete with Imperial March music) as Tie Fighters and X-Wings battle each other in the distance.

While the addition of Yoda and Vader will get most attention, it's the new armour breaking system which will be of most interest to fans of the series.

Give Dad a few techno gizmos

The Cateye Interactive game bike, not as pricey at $400, hooks up to PlayStation 2 and allows dad to use the pedals and handlebars to control any racing game available for that console.

For those tired dads who love to hit the snooze button 100 times in the morning, there's the cute little flying alarm clock made by Hammacher Schlemmer that shoots out a spinning disk when the alarm goes off.

Carly Krug of Hammacher Schlemmer, said the digital alarm clock launches a rotor that flies around the room as the alarm sounds, hovering up to nine inches in the air. The clock won't stop ringing until the rotor is returned to the alarm clock base.

That will get a stubborn sleeper out of bed.

The clock, at $39.95, is available at Hammacher Schlemmer at www.Hammacher.com

For the road

Global Positioning System (GPS) devices are a very popular gift.

FIFA Interactive World Cup Champion Crowned

In a closely fought encounter, the Austrian came out on top with a 2:1 victory.

"I came here to do my best but really didn't believe I would make it this far. It's been an absolutely fantastic day – to test myself against the world's best virtual football gamers is what this tournament is all about," said Alfonso Ramos. " I'm really proud to be the first Spaniard to be crowned FIFA Interactive World Player and look forward to defending my title next year."

As the sun was setting over Berlin, 20,500 spectators shared the excitement of the biggest virtual football event which provided the very best in real and virtual sporting action. Adding to the buzz were appearances by German hip-hop artist Das Bo. Anthony Baffoe, a former Ghanaian international and the first African player in the German Bundesliga co-hosted the event.

Confirmed: Gunmetal PS3 isn't only for Japan and North America

Backwards compatibility with, ooh, say, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Lucky Koreans get the gunmetal 40GB model, a copy of the game and a Dual Shock 3 controller, which is a timely reminder of another entry in the long list of PlayStation goodies that European gamers don't get to enjoy.

This feedback system allows all gamers, rookies or PGA TOUR pros, to compete and enjoy the game at any level.

Coming August 26th to the PS3, X360, PS2, PSP, and Wii. Let's see if Hank can get me to stop tossing my 8 iron into the bushes!

[UPDATE] - Tiger Woods' injury has forced him to re-examine his knee. He will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left knee that he injured 10 months ago. He also suffered a double stress fracture of his left tibia two weeks before the U.S. Open, ignoring doctors' advice to take six weeks off to let it heal.

Hideo Kojima Appears On National Korean English Test

Hideo Kojima doesn't just make video games like Metal Gear Solid 4. Oh, no. Hideo Kojima also appears in an English test! Above is a national English aptitude test for Korean high school students, which mentions the famed game creator. The text selected is dated and is from circa 2002. Anyway! From the test:

The events of 38-year-old Hideo Kojima's life prepared him to design the amazing video game Metal Gear Solid 2. As a child growing up in Kobe, Japan he played outdoor games like thief-and-detective, peeking around corners in much the same way as Solid Snake, the hero of MGS2, does today. In middle school he wrote five 600-page science-fiction novels. When one of his friends brought a camera to school, Kojima took up filmmaking, using his camera. Then he charged neighborhood kids 50 yen each to see his own movies.

IN-DEPTH: MAY NPD ANALYSIS

Take-Two's Grand Theft Auto IV for the Xbox 360 was the top-selling title for the month with the PlayStation 3 version at #4 on the chart, but still did not produce an increase in hardware sales as many analysts had expected. And in the race to create the largest installed base, the Xbox 360 now leads the Nintendo Wii by fewer than 100,000 systems. At this point, halfway through June, it suffices to consider the Nintendo Wii the top-selling new console in the U.S.Buried beneath the headline numbers, however, we have picked out some data we think is just as interesting:

How big will each system's installed base be later this year as we head into the Holiday 2008 season? What are the top five best-selling games of 2008?What are the current tie-ratios for the three consoles, and what do they tell us about the software market? So far in 2008, the videogame industry in the U.S.
